Info for References

Please read the "system overview" to learn how the EconJobMarket.org system works in general. References or their staff representatives can upload recommendation letters by following hyperlinks generated by candidates' submission of application materials. Letters will then be available to the organizations to which individual candidates apply. References who want to actively manage their letters -- to, for example, restrict them to be seen by only a subset of organizations to which a candidate applies -- can do so via a password-protected account. (A reference may decide to write one letter for "top 10" economics departments, another for all others, and still another for consulting firms or government agencies.) Clearly, demands on references and their staff are reduced as more and more recruiters take advantage of the EconJobMarket.org service, because references will no longer have to send their recommendation letters to each recruiter separately. High security will be maintained for recommendation letters, and candidates and unauthorized parties will not be allowed to view them.

References can establish an account when the first reference letter is requested by an applicant.
