I have an online syllabus up on the course web page at

	http://gemini.econ.yale.edu/jrust/econ551.html

The html version of the syllabus has hyperlinks to the publishers
of the 3 recommended books for the course. You should check out the
publisher's description of the book and place an order for it. Any
one of them will do, but if you are more a macroeconometrician, then
the Hayashi book is recommended, and more of a microeconometrician,
then the Ruud or Greene books are recommended. The Ruud book is new
and has a lot of good graphs and visualations of concepts such as
how OLS works. The Greene book has been a standard econometric text
for many years and has been recently updated and improved.

I would also like to call to your attention the fact that the entire
set of chapters in volumes 1-4 of the Handbook of Econometrics is
available online for free from Elsevier publisher link on the syllabus.
This is an invaluable resource that will be heavily used in this course.

Finally, note that we have hours for sections in Statlab set up: Tuesdays
and Thursdays from 4-5pm.

See you in class later today.

John
